Hello everyone,

This is Felipe and Lauren, reaching out to our community during one of the most challenging times of our lives.

During our skydiving vacation in Egypt, we experienced an emergency landing due to unforeseen circumstances. Lauren suffered a fractured sacrum and hip bones and had to undergo an immediate and delicate surgery to realign her pelvic bones and prevent nerve damage.

We have been fortunate to receive excellent medical care in Cairo, and Lauren is now recovering at a satisfactory but slow pace due to the nature of her injuries. This means we won’t be able to return home until she is stable enough to travel safely.

I was lucky to walk away with only a few dislocated bones and am now healing myself while taking care of Lauren, far from home.

Now, the real challenge lies ahead. The reality is that we don’t yet have a return date, Lauren is fighting her hardest against the odds of recovery to get the medical clearance to be transported as soon as possible, but medical expenses continue to grow each day. With both of us here, income loss is unavoidable, and bills are piling up back home. The arrangements for our eventual return will be costly, and once we’re back, Lauren will face several months of rehabilitation—during which she won’t be able to work.

This experience has been profoundly humbling—a painful reminder of how fragile life can be and how quickly everything can change.
