Support Lauren's Fight Against Stage III Cancer

In early October of this year, my little cousin, Lauren (24), received devastating news after the removal of an ovarian cyst. Lauren was told that the pathology from the cyst came back containing cancer cells. This classified the believed 'cyst' as a malignant germ cell tumor of the ovary. Following this news, Lauren has been seen in oncology at both Waukesha Memorial Hospital and Froedtert Hospital for multiple professional opinions, underwent a PET scan that gave us hope, and received another surgery to remove the ovary that the cyst was located on. The hope that we had from a good PET scan was quickly taken away from Lauren and all of us when she received news back of the pathology from this surgery. The results stated that the tumor has spread beyond the ovary to the abdominal wall, upstaging Lauren's cancer diagnosis to Stage lll (3). Lauren is expected to be needing 3-6 rounds of chemotherapy for treatment, as well as various additional scans and doctor appointments.

Prior to receiving this devastating news, Lauren had just moved into a new apartment and started a new job. She is now moved back home due to needing assistance while recovering from 2 surgeries and needing to take time off of work for the said recoveries. Lauren was cleared to return to work 12/01/2024, which she immediately notified her employer of, and was told due to "negative changes" in the workplace, they no longer had a spot for Lauren to return to.

Lauren is currently living with her mother and is receiving moral support from her twin sister, Ashley, her older sister, Courtney, and her father that lives out of state. As one of her family members, my hope is for Lauren to be able to focus on herself during this time and to be able to take the time that she needs for her upcoming treatments and to let her body rest. We are uncertain of what the future holds for Lauren, and I would love to help relieve some of her and her immediate family's stress during this awful time by creating this GoFundMe.
