Support Laurence During His Treatment

Donation protected
Hi, we’re fundraising for Laurence, well known within the film and local community, who could do with some support right now.

6 years ago, in 2019, Laurence was diagnosed with PKD, or Polycystic Kidney Disease. Signs and symptoms were mild in the first two years after diagnosis and Laurence was able to continue with normal life, you wouldn’t know that he was suffering such a massive illness at all. 4 years ago, in 2021, to help keep his body healthy, Laurence started dialysis treatment at home, 3 times a week. During this time he continued to work normally, despite the intrusive 12 hour treatment, 3 times a week throughout the night.

As time passed Laurence’s condition steadily worsened and his consultant gradually increased his dialysis treatment, going from 3 x 12 hourly dialysis treatments per week to 5 treatments per week. This brought us to 2023 and, at this time, although he was feeling tired, and despite several stays in hospital with various infections, Laurence continued to work. He was now placed on the kidney transplant waiting list, in urgent need of a kidney donor.

It’s now 2025 and, with his health in a serious condition, Laurence is only able to work intermittently, being registered as self employed this means the family income has been devastated. His 12 hour dialysis treatment is now a daily prescription, to help keep his body functioning. Although he desperately still loves to work, he is only able to do this when his body enables him to, and when he is feeling strong enough.

Laurence and his family desperately want to remain in their family home but this hope and dream is slipping away, they are critically close to loosing it. If you think you may be able to help, whilst Laurence isn’t able to work full time, you could literally change our lives. We want to stay close to the excellent renal facility at the local hospital which means that, when he suffers infection and needs additional daily treatment, he can sleep in his own bed, rather than an uncomfortable stay in hospital. His son is due to sit his GCSE’s in May and, as a family, we desperately want to limit disruption at this pivotal time in all teenagers lives.

If you think you can help Laurence and his family at the truly horrible and testing time, we would be eternally thankful and grateful, any small amount will literally be life changing for us.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story.
