Support Lauren Casselberry's Medical Recovery

My name is Kacey, and I’m raising funds for my sister's medical bills/living expenses.
Lauren Casselberry is 39. She is a mother of two precious kids and a loving wife of Matt Casselberry. Lauren has suffered from Cardiac Arrest V-fib. The extent of recovery is yet to be known, but we know it will be a long one. She is a fighter and has shown great improvements since being there. The funds will go to help with her medical bills/living expenses. Both Lauren and Matt are self employed. Not receiving any FMLA during this hard time, Any amount is greatly appreciated as we all know bills are the last thing they should worry about during this trying time.

Hey everyone, this is Lauren’s husband Matt. I wanted to update/let everyone know what happened. Saturday around 2 pm, Lauren collapsed with cardiac arrest. They diagnosed it as V-Fib. Police and EMS arrived so quickly and took care of her. They got her stable and took her to UPMC Harrisburg hospital. She is currently in the ICU. It’s only been a little over 24 hours, so they really want her body to have time to rest and recover. She has opened her eyes a few times and looked at me very deeply like she knew who I was. She is just being pumped full of meds/sedatives and has tubes down her throat, so she falls back to sleep quickly. Like I said, barely a day so far, so we are praying for the absolute best. I’ve tried to let some of LC’s friends know, but I haven’t had time to get to everyone. She has built up such a large, loving group of people over the years. I know she would want you all to know. Prayers and good energy are really needed right now. This was such a blindside.

*As I’m typing this, I just got a call from the hospital. They said Lauren just responded to verbal commands! They asked her to close her eyes tight, and she did. They asked her to wiggle her toes, and she did!

Update #1: I have a very positive update about Lauren. This morning the nurse told me situations like this can change quickly. This evening the hospital called and said Lauren has fully come off of the ventilator. She is breathing on her own, can respond to questions by lightly nodding her head yes and no, and she’s moving her limbs. She is still in a bit of a fog, but I couldn’t ask for better progress in just one day. Thank you all for your beautiful comments and support.

Update #2: When I left the hospital last night, Lauren could only lay there and lightly nod her head yes and no to questions. By morning she was speaking. Family members were able to visit her today, and she’s holding light conversations. This morning when asked her age, she thought 21. Tonight when I asked her how old she was, she thought for a minute and said, “I think I’m about 40.” That’s an example of progress in just a few hours' time. She’s able to get up and go to the bathroom by herself... the girl just collapsed 2 days ago! I brought a stack of photos to the hospital for her to keep. Each time she went through them, her eyes would light up, and she would say a new fact about the photo, like the time, place, or event. Every person I mentioned she knew right away.
It’s not all perfect. She had some moments where she would repeat the same question every few minutes, and she doesn’t understand why she is in the hospital. Seems very reasonable though, all things considered. I can’t wait to see the progress as we go day to day.
