Support Lauren and Russ's Baby's Medical Journey

Donation protected
My very dear friends, Lauren and Russ Langas, found out they were pregnant in late winter 2024 after suffering a miscarriage around the holidays in 2023. The pregnancy has been very tough on Lauren, with frequent visits to her doctors and to the ER, as she has been sick non-stop.

Last week, she started experiencing severe pain and was admitted to the hospital, to later be discharged and told to prepare for a likely early delivery within the next few weeks.

On Saturday, she returned in debilitating pain to the hospital to be admitted again, with the assumption that she would have to have an emergency C section within the next 48-72hrs. But within 18 hours, they rushed her for an emergency C section and their beautiful baby boy was born on Sunday, September 8, at 4 pounds and 7 weeks early.

Lauren experienced severe issues after birth, where she wasn't even allowed to touch or hold her baby after birth as she had to go back to being under observation in a hospital room. The baby was rushed to the NICU with a series of complications.

While the baby is somewhat stable now, Lauren and Russ are preparing for the hospital in Tyler (2 hours east of Dallas) to medically transport the baby to a children's hospital in Dallas for immediate surgery and likely a 3-4 week recovery. Russ will have to go with the baby to Dallas while Lauren must remain hospitalized in Tyler until they determine that she can be safely discharged.

Russ and eventually Lauren will likely have to have hotel accommodations in Dallas for the next month or more and Russ will be on unpaid leave for at least another month or more depending on the outcome of the baby's surgery.

I'm asking for support for these amazing new parents and their beautiful baby boy to cover medical bills, out-of-town expenses such as lodging and food, and the likely on-going medical needs the baby and Lauren may need going forward.

9/9 update: the baby and Russ are now in Dallas at one of the hospitals. The transport went smoothly. Lauren will remain hospitalized in Tyler for the rest of the week. Your prayers are appreciated!

Update for 9/11 - the baby has had surgery but it was determined there may be additional issues. Lauren has been discharged from the hospital so she is working on getting to Dallas. They are going to be in this for the long haul so thank you to everyone who has already donated!

Update for 9/24 - Lauren has had some medical setbacks herself in the last week and the baby has too. While the surgery was successful to repair his esophagus, he still faces some other heart related issues and oxygen issues. Lauren and Russ will need to remain in Dallas for at least the whole month of October, with hopes of returning to Tyler around the baby's original due date at the end of October.

Donations will continue to go to cover their home expenses while away from their home in Tyler, cover food and other "living" expenses while they remain in Dallas, and of course cover both Lauren and the baby's medical expenses, which are expected to be quite large at the end of all of this. Please share this page with your friends and help out this beautiful family!
