Support Lauren and Cody After Tragic Loss

My name is Chelsea, Lauren’s best friend of 19 years, and I’m creating this fundraiser on behalf of the Salyers family.

On January 24th of this year, Lauren and Cody welcome their son, Carter Layne, at just 24 weeks gestation weighing 1lb 2oz. and 12 inches long. Carter remained earth-side for 50 minutes before going home to be in the arms of Jesus.

In December of 2024 Lauren went in for what she thought was going to be a normal anatomy scan, but soon discovered the difficulties she was about to encounter. There, she found out her cervical length was short, and she had already began to dilate. The doctors had recommended a cervical cerclage be placed to help eliminate the chance of Lauren going into preterm labor. A few days later her cerclage was placed, and the procedure went better than expected. We knew Lauren would now be considered a high risk pregnancy, but we did not know what she was about to continue to face.

The beginning of January Lauren started to have some cramping and bleeding, and went to the hospital to be checked. After being transferred to several different hospitals they had discovered Lauren had a mild placenta abruption. It was found best for Lauren to ultimately be put on bed rest in hopes to remain pregnant as long as possible. The next day, her father suffered from a massive brain stem stroke, where doctors are giving him little to no hope. Unfortunately in those next few days Lauren’s placenta fully detached and she began to hemorrhage, leading to an emergency c-section and ultimately the loss of their baby boy. In conclusion to this all Lauren and Cody are in need of some financial help. They would never ask for the help themselves so I have arranged this in hopes of raising some of the money to help with the tremendous medical bills that have mounted after the countless visits and admissions to the hospital. With Cody and Lauren both having missed work due to the events aforementioned, the bills are starting to stack up on top of the emotional burdens they have endured.
