Lauren was involved in a severe car accident when another driver ran a red light and struck her directly on the driver’s side. The impact was catastrophic, and she is now in the hospital for an extended amount of time.
Lauren has suffered extensive injuries, including a brain bleed, internal bleeding, fractured ribs, a severely fractured pelvis, a burst kidney, a collapsed lung, and internal lacerations throughout her body.
As of April 22, while being taken into surgery for her pelvis, tests showed her heart is too stressed and weak to have the surgery at this time. Now as April 29, she had the surgery, and is in need of extensive physical therapy. Ideally she will move to Brooks Rehab Hospital soon.
Lauren is the heart behind Quillow Acres. If you’ve ever followed along on Instagram, you already know this isn’t just a “farm.” It’s more like a full-scale, slightly chaotic, absolutely love-filled rescue operation.
Cows, horses, goats, ducks, chickens, dogs, cats… if it needed a home, Lauren found a way to give it one. At this point, it’s less of a question of what animals are there and more of a question of what isn’t there.
And yes—Fred the goat still needs to eat. (Frankly, Fred insists on it.)
Many of you have already supported Quillow Acres, and we are so grateful. Truly. Those animals are loved and cared for because of people like you.
This GoFundMe, however, is for Lauren and her family.
Andy, Lauren’s husband, is far too humble and kind to ever ask for something like this (and is probably cringing a little that it exists). But right now, the reality is this: Lauren needs support, her family needs support, and the day-to-day responsibilities of life with 100+ hungry animals doesn't pause.
Funds raised will go toward:
- Hospital and medical expenses
- Ongoing care and recovery
- Living expenses for Lauren and her family during this time
Any additional funds will go directly to Quillow Acres to help feed and care for the animals over the next six months, because while Lauren is fighting, her life’s work still needs tending.
If you’re able to donate, thank you. If not, sharing this page means just as much. Fred the goat is counting on you.
Most importantly, please keep Lauren and her family in your thoughts and prayers as she doesn't even realize the road she has ahead.
