Hey there - a few of us realized that our friend Laurel could really use a helping hand to minimize distress over surgery and recovery costs so we've created this fundraiser for her.

Meet Laurel:

Laurel is one of the kindest, most give-the-shirt-off-her-back humans on Hornby Island. She has spent years grooming the island’s four-legged citizens into their most glamorous selves — from scruffy pups to the “Hornby Island runway models” we see strutting around the Co-op parking lot.

Now she needs our help.

Laurel has to travel from Hornby Island to Vancouver in mid-December for a necessary operation on her ankle. Between travel, a few nights of accommodation for the surgery, plus three post op visits to the big city for follow ups as well as the physiotherapy she’ll need afterwards to fully heal, the expenses add up faster than a golden retriever sheds in spring.

Laurel isn’t one to ask for help — she’s always the one helping everyone else — so we’re stepping in for her. Any contribution, big or small, helps her get the care she needs so she can get back to doing what she loves: making animals look fabulous and reminding them they’re good boys and girls.
