Support Laurel Rose's NICU Journey
Donation protected
On June 27, 2024, the Nielsens welcomed sweet Laurel Rose to their family of 5. During an ultrasound in April, they were told that their baby had Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. Since the ultrasound, the family has temporarily relocated to Houston to be closer to specialists and for Laurel’s early arrival. On the day she was born, Laurel had surgery on her head and back. Praise God, surgery went wonderfully! Laurel has been in the NICU since surgery and she is proving to be a little fighter. She is working on eating from a bottle and regulating her temperature before she can be released from the NICU to join her family at home.
In the meantime, Laurel’s parents have two young boys, dad has been commuting 4 hours to work in a different city, they are staying temporarily with a family member in Houston, and are being met with unexpected costs due to Laurel’s extended stay in the NICU.
We started this GoFund me so that anyone who would like to contribute to the family can do so - the funds will go to food, bills, childcare, parking expenses at the hospital, transportation costs, groceries, and equipment to help Laurel transition comfortably once she begins life with her family at home.
Laurel Rose means “Victory Rose” - as in, Jesus ROSE from the dead. He has won us the victory! Kayla and Josh are forever grateful for how far God has brought them and Laurel. We want to support them as they transition into this season of life, as they welcome Laurel to their family and learn to support her needs.
If you cannot give, please pray on Laurel and her family’s behalf for wisdom and truth for the doctors, health and strength for Laurel, and wisdom and patience for Kayla, Josh and their boys. Thank you.
