Hi dear ones! My name is Catie Hannigan (she/her) and I am raising funds to support the top surgery of my partner, spouse, and best friend— Laura Tran (she/they).
Laura grew up in NYC, a child of Vietnamese refugees, and developed a life long love of food, culture, and community which they have nourished in the PNW. Among their community, Laura is known for simple but exquisite home cooked meals, spontaneous camping trips or mushroom foraging excursions, or late night movie marathons.
They passionately and consistently show up for those they love, admire, and want to forge community with.
It is my hope that we can all show them the same amount of enthusiasm, care, and support that they bestow upon us every day by supporting this gender affirming and much dreamed of surgery.
Their top surgery has been approved and scheduled for February 2022! Here is how these funds will support Laura:
- $6,000 — after insurance, this is the remaining cost of the surgery, based on the estimate given to us.
- $4,000 — this remaining amount will cover lost pay due to time off for both Laura and myself (main caregiver), cost of medications (not covered by insurance), other healing modalities, dog walking, extra groceries and food delivery, and a little wiggle room for unexpected costs of surgery and/or healing since the estimate may change.
For those who are near and dear to us, we will also set up a meal train in the future.
Laura is so grateful to have been approved for this surgery, but without these funds, they won’t be able to afford the cost, including the significant time off to heal. If you have financial capacity to contribute, we would be so honored and thankful.
