For over 12 years, our family has been fighting alongside our Mom, Laura, as she courageously battles chronic pancreatitis. What started as a painful condition has turned into a life-threatening journey filled with countless hospital stays, procedures, and unimaginable hardship. For the past five years, our Mom has relied on a feeding tube just to survive. Recently, things took a devastating turn.
Although our Mom has been battling pancreatitis for years, her pancreatic numbers are currently stable. In January, she went to the hospital for a procedure that was meant to help—but it was unfortunately done incorrectly. This led to severe complications, including liver failure, which is now the true cause of her current condition. After being transferred for specialized care, doctors were able to stabilize her—but the damage has already been done. Our Mom, Laura, who is only 44 years old, now urgently needs a liver transplant to survive.
She has been transferred to a transplant center in Washington, DC, where she will be placed on the transplant list. However, there is one major obstacle before she can officially be listed. Our Mom must have stable housing within an hour of the hospital and two trained caregivers ready to support her while she waits for the perfect match. Without this, she cannot move forward.
Our Dad, Rudy, is doing everything he can, but the financial burden is overwhelming. Between medical bills, travel, and now the urgent need to secure temporary housing near the hospital, the costs are far beyond what our family can manage alone.
Our Mom has endured 23 procedures in just the past three months. There were moments we truly thought we might lose her. Through it all, she continues to fight with incredible strength—for her life, for our Dad, and for us, her children, who have already been through so much.
We are asking for your help. Your donation will go directly toward securing housing near the transplant center, covering essential living expenses, and ensuring our Mom has the support she needs to be placed on the transplant list and receive the life-saving surgery she desperately needs.
Every contribution, no matter the size, brings our Mom one step closer to a second chance at life. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this page to help us reach others who can.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support, prayers, and kindness during this incredibly difficult time.
— Vada, Seth & Rudy
