Laura's Story,
The lifetime risk of developing colorectal cancer is about 1 in 26 for women; that's about 4.1%. In August 2023, Laura was told she had colon cancer; she was now a part of the 4.1%. Laura is 44 years young and came from a very strong line of women, so she knew her strength and that her story wasn't over. With the love and support from her family, she kicked cancer's butt on May 28th 2024! In just 9 months!!! Just four days after she was cleared, she walked her oldest daughter, Autumn, down the aisle for her wedding. She was out of the woods! It was a day of happy tears, a lot of hugs, and gave us all something to celebrate and cheers to.
Sadly, 37 days after she beat cancer, Laura and the family had to say goodbye to their biggest supporter, their cheerleader, the glue to the family, Laura's mom, Carol. For the last year, there have been tears, celebrations, and more tears, so many old memories shared and new ones made. There have been family dinners, camping trips, and all the things that keep us all together as a family.
Almost a year she was cancer-free. On May 16th, 2025, none of us knew what was coming. With tears in her eyes, she had to tell her daughters the cancer came back. She had to tell her dad and her brother that another war was beginning. With her husband by her side, she told it all: “It's terminal.” We all gathered around for our family meeting, many questions, silent tears running down the cheeks of all of us who desperately wish we could fight this fight for her.
Laura started chemo on June 3rd 2025 and just had her 2nd round on June 17th 2025. Chemo is tough on her but she is stronger…
Laura is incredibly strong. She's a daughter, a sister, a mother, a grandma, a wife and she is hands down one of the most amazing, strong, caring, loving women I have ever had the privilege of calling family. Unfortunately, with health insurance, there are deductibles and premiums that have to be met, and Laura's husband, Rob, is doing his best to make ends meet. I created this go fund me in hopes to give them some financial relief, whether it be for medical needs that she may incur before she meet her insurance, premiums or deductibles or to make life just a little less, stressful. Everything helps, please share Laura‘s story and keep her and the family in your thoughts and prayers #Laurastrong
