On behalf of the so very many of us who love Laura, please join us in supporting her through her surgery and recovery from Invasive Lobular Carcinoma. Laura will undergo surgical treatment for the cancer on 8/18/26. She needs our support as she recovers until she is hopefully able to return to work later this fall.

Though she is a therapist by profession, if you know Laura, you know the care she offers others goes far beyond her work. She brings such a kind, loving, and thoughtful light into the world. It’s an honor to be able to offer her the care and support she has given to so many others in difficult moments as she recovers.

Because Laura is self-employed and needs to take some time off to recover post-surgery, she is losing her regular income while facing additional medical expenses. Funds raised will help cover medical expenses, travel and lodging for treatment, and everyday living costs while she is unable to work.

Always an amazing advocate, Laura hopes that by sharing her experience, she can bring greater awareness to ILC (Invasive Lobular Carcinoma). Lobular cancer is a less common type of breast cancer affecting 10–15% of women. It is sometimes called the “sneaky cancer” because it can be difficult to detect on imaging. It can grow in a spider-web-like pattern and may also be difficult to self-detect. In the spirit of spreading awareness, if you fall into a higher-risk category, please talk with your healthcare provider about whether advanced screening may be appropriate. Only a small percentage of breast cancer research is dedicated specifically to lobular cancer compared to ductal cancer, so there is still much to learn about screening, treatment, and recovery.

Your support means the world to Laura and her amazing husband, Sam, and helps them feel the love from those who are far away. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help Laura focus on healing rather than financial stress. Thank you for giving Laura the support she deserves.
