My name is Laura McCabe, and I am a mother, survivor of prolonged abuse, and now the target of what I believe is a devastating misuse of the justice system. I am currently facing serious criminal charges in Oregon, despite compelling evidence that this case stems from a prolonged campaign of retaliation and abuse by my former spouse — not any actual wrongdoing.

❗️Why I'm Asking for Help:

I need to raise $40,000 to $60,000 to retain a criminal defense attorney who can represent me in Oregon and defend me against felony charges that I believe are based on forged documents and misinformation. I do not have the funds to hire private counsel, and my application for a public defender has stalled due to complex interstate issues and a pending extradition request.

I am currently living in Billings, Montana, with my 15-year-old daughter, my fiancé, her daughter and parents.

I was arrested on an extradition warrant in early May 2025 but released pending a hearing.

No extradition has been signed by the Oregon Governor as of this writing.

My Mental Health:

I’ve been diagnosed with PTSD, complex trauma, depression, and anxiety directly linked to:

An abusive relationship

Continued harassment

Defamation and legal attacks

I am in active trauma therapy — as is my daughter — and I have not been able to work since this case escalated due to the emotional toll and the constant threat of arrest or imprisonment. I do have a job I can return to, but not until I secure legal representation and my name is cleared.

2020–2022 – Financial abuse, controlling behavior, and early threats of legal retaliation during marriage.

Jan 2024 – Identity theft begins: tax documents filed without my consent.

Feb–Mar 2024 – Credit fraud alerts placed in my name by my ex.

May 2024 – False public claims made about immigration and identity theft; YouTube video interview published disclosing my private information (later removed).

Aug 2024 – Divorce case escalates. Personal property sold. Civil defamation.

Oct 2024–Feb 2025 – Continued false legal filings and motions.

May 5, 2025 – I was indicted and arrested in Montana on an Oregon warrant.

May–June 2025 – No public defender assigned despite repeated requests. Extradition still pending. I’ve submitted all evidence to the Oregon DA and to the Governor’s office.

Why This Matters:

I’m not running from justice — I’m fighting for it. But I cannot do that without an attorney who can defend my rights and present the full truth in court. The system is complex, and without proper representation, I risk losing not just my freedom, but my child, my future, and my ability to heal.
