Hurricane Helene took a lot from everyone in this area. It has taught everyone a lot about the value of life but also calls us to grieve the loss of all kinds, including the grief of the items, places, and things that have been a part of the life that we have built.

If you do not know Laura, then you may not know that she is a remarkably kind human who does not need much outside of a compelling book and her dachshunds.

Laura Lee lost a lot with this storm. Including all that she owned, sparing the limited items in her tiny home. While her home may be intact, it was all of her possessions (furniture, clothing in preparation for the winter, family mementos that cannot be replaced, etc.) that have been lost. Some things can never be replaced, but I trust that the people of this community will work beautifully to show up for a neighbor in need.
