Support Laura Houle's Brain Tumor Battle

Life Update: I have a brain tumor.

My name is Laura Houle. I’m 31 years old, living in my small hometown of Grand Blanc, MI. I have been blessed with my amazing 3-year-old Miles, and marrying my high school sweetheart Trevor.

It’s taken me a while to put this into words and describe the waking nightmare that I’ve been living the past few weeks. I decided that I’d rather share this with everyone myself. This is our new reality and it’s going to take us a while to return to a new normal standard.

In early August, my doctor called in to discuss the results of an MRI we had done to look into a ringing I’ve had in my ear. They found a small tumor in my right temporal lobe. It was literally found by accident as I had no other symptoms. We waited six weeks and repeated the MRI at a closer look. There were slight signs of growth, activity, and brain swelling.

I’ll be having brain surgery on Friday, October 18th. It was decided that I should have it removed and then run a biopsy to see what type of tumor it is. I’ll be at Henry Ford for 5 days. We will find out in a few weeks the diagnosis and the next steps in my recovery. The side effects and symptoms of the recovery process are scary, but I know I will have an abundance of support.

I have a small army that’s already rallying behind me. Trevor and my mom have been saints trying to lead the charge of taking care of me. I have several friends and family that are going to be with me in my first stages of recovery. It’s been breathtaking to see the amount of love and support I’ve gotten so far, and I’m always caught off guard that so many people have been praying for me already. I will never be able to thank everyone enough for helping us through this crisis.

Any financial support will be going towards my hospital and surgery bills, as well as loss of income until I am fully able to work again.
