There are times in all our lives when we ask why bad things happen to good people. And why must the people we care about suffer so much? This is one of those times. In 2018, Laura Stein Gallagher was diagnosed with Adult Granulosa Cell Tumors Carcinoma, or in simpler terms, Ovarian Cancer. Since then, she has endured four surgeries and three different rounds of chemotherapy. As she suffered through all this, her devoted husband Joe stood by her side, supporting her physically, emotionally, and financially as the only breadwinner of the family. The toll on both Gallaghers has been significant.
The latest news is no better. After a trip to MD Anderson in Houston, one of the finest cancer institutes in the South (if not the nation), her doctor, a specialist in gynecological cancers and a noted researcher in the area, informed the family that there are no targeted therapies or new specific drug cocktails for her cancer left to try. Laura’s body is failing her, and all the previous treatments have taken a toll on not only her physical well-being but the family’s finances.
What hasn’t wavered is their faith. Through all of this, they have put their fate in God’s hands, hoping and praying for doctors’ wisdom, new medications, and an existence worth living. Alas, all that remains are holistic and experimental treatments. These treatments show promise and positive results in many cases. They are also costly and are not covered by the Gallaghers' insurance. That’s where we can help. Your donations, large or small, can help Laura and Joe continue the battle for her life. Each penny donated will go exclusively toward purchasing and administering the medications that can extend Laura’s life and give her a quality life for as long as she remains on this earth. The situation is urgent, and the need is great. Please consider donating today and ask your friends and families to do so if they can. God bless you all and God bless Laura and Joe.
