On October 27th, my sister Latocia was admitted to the hospital with an unknown sickness. Latocia underwent extensive tests, a spinal tap, and a biopsy. During this time, she was given six different antibiotics and an antifungal to try and relieve her symptoms. She remained in the hospital for three weeks to finally find out she has a severe case of Valley fever and pneumonia. The Valley fever has now spread and completely surrounded her right lung and pulmonary artery, as well as moved into her tissues and muscles, causing lumps throughout her body. Within this time, she has lost 25 lbs and a lot of muscle mass, making it extremely hard to do daily tasks such as walk and care for her two children.

Due to the seriousness of her conditions, she will be under an eight-week treatment in hopes of getting rid of or shrinking the Valley fever so she can heal! For this time and possibly more, Latocia is unable to work. As the days go on, she is finding herself needing extra help with her bills and food for her children as she has no income while off work.
