Hi, my name is Lathaniel Jordan. Family and friends call me Mike, aka Swift Kick. I'm losing to type 2 diabetes. Unfortunately, I was attacked by an unknown bacterial infection which gave me a diabetic foot ulcer. At first, I thought I just bumped my toe and it was just sore, but it was the infection attacking me from within. One day, it started hurting really bad, so I had my wife look at my foot, and it was a nickel-sized hole starting to form from within my foot. So, I hurried up to urgent care, and they told me what it was and prescribed me some antibiotics and some ointment, wrapped my foot, and sent me on my way. I did everything they told me to do, took all the medication 3 times a day, wrapped my foot correctly, and even had my wife help me. The infection still spread internally to my pinky toe and the bone spurs under the toe. Once I came to wound care, they changed things by telling me to keep it dry, don't use the ointment, and rewrapped my foot. At my next appointment, 1 week from that day this past Monday, when I came to see them, the infection had spread so fast they sent me to the emergency room. I was told then I needed an X-ray and an MRI. Once the results came back, they told me that they were going to have to remove my pinky toe and the bones underneath it and the knuckle.
That's what they did. I'm still in the hospital. Then they inserted a PICC line into my arm, where a nurse will have to come to my home for up to 6 weeks every day and administer antibiotics to make sure all the infection is out of my body. And change my bandages on my foot. During this time, I can't be putting weight on my foot, and I can't work. I'm a full-time Lyft and Uber driver with over 30k rides combined for 9 years, and now I won't have any income. So, this is why I'm asking for a little help to pay my bills because I don't have any other source of income at the moment. Anything will definitely be a blessing. Thanks in advance.
