LaShawn needs your help. LaShawn, or Kiah to his family, suffered a massive heart attack early in the morning on Friday November 1st. LaShawn had been admitted to the hospital for severe stomach pain caused by a bacterial infection. Unknown to LaShawn and his doctors, the infection had caused blood clots that completely blocked his left anterior descending artery (LAD or more commonly known as the widow maker). The blockage caused a massive heart attack. His doctors quickly took action and used cardioversion, an electric shock to the heart, to revive LaShawn’s heart.

LaShawn’s doctors’ quick action likely saved him but he still faces a tough road to recovery. An ECMO was surgically implanted to ensure LaShawn’s heart could function in addition to a ventilator that kept LaShawn breathing. LaShawn is slowly healing but remains in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit surrounded by his loving family, closest friends, and his devoted fiance, Bree, who has not left his side.

Prior to his heart attack Kiah was a healthy, strong 26 year old man working full time and saving for his upcoming wedding in the spring. His recent health problems have turned his life upside down. While he is hospitalized and unable to work, his normal monthly bills and mounting medical bills are quickly growing. LaShawn and Bree need your support more now than ever. LaShawn is loved by everyone who knows him. He does so much for others, so we are encouraging everyone to donate whatever they can to support him through this long and difficult struggle.
