Support Lasater's with liver transplant surgery
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Adelaide Lasater, and my father is Gavin Lasater. He has an incredible wife named Christina and two daughters that love him very much, including me and my sister Delaney. Our family's lives were turned completely upside down a few months ago when he was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis, and soon after that, end-stage liver disease. This is an incurable stage of liver disease that requires the sufferer to get a transplant, which is an incredibly difficult process. He has been fighting hard every day to continue going through that process, but each day that passes he gets closer to desperately needing the transplant. His life depends on it.
My father is a disabled Marine Corps veteran and a hardworking man who has always provided for our family, but with how incredibly ill he is, he has been unable to go to work as he normally would. We worry and struggle every day thinking about how to continue paying the bills and how to even keep our home. This does not even include the common cost of liver transplant surgery. The cost of the entire procedure can be upwards of $500,000 without insurance, a staggering number. Even with all of this, not all the costs are listed here. My father must stay in a hotel within 30 minutes of the hospital for one whole month after the procedure occurs, and hotel costs add up extremely quickly. Even then, he will have to take medication for the entire rest of his life just to keep this new liver.
I love my father, and I can't bear to see him go through this and do nothing, so I ask for your help, love, and support during this extremely difficult time. Anything helps, even sharing this donation with others that might be able to help. All money gained from this will be used towards the costs of the transplant as well as other medical costs and living costs. even a donation of 25-50 dollars can cover most of the gas needed to travel to Mayo, the hospital he is receiving care at.
Anywhere you can share this fundraiser can help, at your church, your job, with friends and family, etc. I and my entire family are so incredibly grateful for everyone's support through this journey, and we are grateful to have such a supportive community to hold us up.
Although he has made it to my and my sister's birthdays this year, we want him to keep making it to our birthdays for years to come.
Thank you for your time, and remember to hold your loved ones close to you.
