Hi, This is Buddy and I'm trying to raise funds to help Larry get a new MAC.

I first learned about Larry’s generosity for our community long before I met him.

While watching the credits of The Times of Harvey Milk, I saw LOBO Book Shop Dallas and thought I’ve been there.

In 1988 while producing AFTER HOURS broadcast on KPFT 90.1 FM we wanted to have The Celebration of Life Rally on the Steps of Houston’s City Hall. Sadly, not many of the so-called leaders of Houston’s GLBT community wanted to support what we were doing. At the suggestion of Bill White, Larry’s partner, Roger & I went to visit Larry at LOBO Book Shop in Houston. Before I could finish explaining what we want to do to mark the 10th anniversary of the assassination of Harvey Milk, Larry opened his checkbook, signed at least a half dozen blank checks and told us, use those for whatever is needed. Those checks were used to fly Harry Britt to Houston for our rally, rent pianos, sound systems and everything else needed to make the rally happen. Larry continued to support our work on AFTER HOURS long after the rally ended.

I returned to Houston in 2017 to help shut down After HOURS after’s it’s 30 years run on KPFT. I called Larry & we were able to have lunch. Larry was living in Senior housing at Allen Parkway Village at the time. He has since moved to another Houston Housing Authority property near Hobby airport.

Larry @ 87 years young is wheelchair bound and his apartment is his only world.

I read today that Larry’s MAC is on its last leg so I thought I would create this GOFUNDME page so that we could come together & get Larry a new Mac. I enjoy our phone conversations, but I know Larry’s real connection to the world is his MAC. Without it I know how isolated he would be.

Larry has always managed to take care of himself but today he needs our support.

If you can find it in your heart to support this man who supported so many of us for so long and help him purchase a new MAC I know he would be eternally grateful.
