I'm Rose, and I'm here today to share the story of dear Larry. Larry is 77 years young, facing stomach cancer, and because he has a very weak heart, he can no longer receive treatment and is currently in hospice care.
For 15 years, Larry has called this manufactured home in San Diego his sanctuary. He shared this life with his partner until he passed away two years ago.
He has always been a proud man, but after exhausting his savings to keep up with $1,700 monthly rent on a $1,300 income, he is now three months behind. He is behind because a local well-known wholesale real estate broker advised him to stop paying his rent completely; he promised they would pay out of escrow when it closed. This broker offered to purchase his home, but two months later, when Larry called me asking for my help, he discovered this broker "ghosted" him. So now he is so behind on his rent, and the park will not take a partial payment to catch up.
Our goal is for Larry to spend his final days in the comfort of his own home. We are raising funds to pay off his rent arrears and cover his basic needs—things like a Wi-Fi connection so he can watch movies and stay in touch with his family out of state, provide home-cooked meals, and a clean environment. 100% of your donations will go to Larry and his basic needs.
Any donation, no matter how small, will directly help Larry stay exactly where he belongs. If you can't donate, please consider sharing his story. Happy Holidays and thank you for your kindness.
