Yesterday afternoon, Larry was involved in a terrible accident. While working on his truck, the jack slipped out and the truck landed on his lower leg. In good old Larry fashion, he improvised and utilized his belt as a tourniquet, which likely saved his life.
The injuries Larry sustained are extremely extensive; his lower leg was close to fully amputated. One surgery has been performed at Enloe Hospital in order to stabilize him and hopefully save his leg. He has been accepted to UC Davis, where he will undergo several other surgical procedures over the next few weeks.
On top of the leg injuries, there are other serious complications Larry is facing which pertain to crushing injuries, one of those being blood clots.
If you know Larry, there are a few things you know about him as a man.
#1 He will give you the shirt off his own back and do anything to help you out, whether he knows you or not.
#2 He has a work ethic like no other.
#3 He’s ultra stubborn!! Which is helping him through this process!! And he always keeps a positive outlook.
#4 He’s a proud man and never asks for help. (Because he’s always the one lending a hand to others).
Larry has worked for Matthew’s Roofing Company in Paradise for over 21 years. He has roofed many of our homes. He has put his craftsmanship and pride into every one of those projects. He has been a dedicated and reliable Foreman for our company and a great friend as well.
As Larry goes through his surgeries and rehabilitation, he likely will not be able to return to work for at least 6-12 months. This will create a heavy financial burden and unneeded stress during his extensive recovery.
Please help us reach our goal to help Larry and his family at least reduce the financial and emotional stress over the next several months.
We will keep you all posted as Larry continues his recovery.
Thank you!!
