My name is Kay, and I am retired and living in Bloomfield, CT. I had the extreme pleasure of meeting my cousin Lanza last year when we had a family reunion in Jamaica. He was the nicest, funniest, and most down-to-earth person I have ever met. He was so excited to meet family members for the first time, he brought us to meet all his friends to "show us off."

Lanza lives in Westmoreland, Jamaica, in the remote part of Petersfield, which was devastated by Hurricane Melissa. Because of the remoteness of his community, they have not seen any relief services since October 26, when Melissa hit the island.

My cousin lost most of his humble house as well as his workshop (he's a carpenter by trade). His daughter and her family also lost most of their house and all their belongings, as it was for most of his community.

Your donation will be used specifically to provide building materials to repair roofs for as many people as possible in this remote part of the island. It will also be used to provide basic living essentials for Lanza and his community.

Lanza is one of the most generous, loving, and giving people; he's the one who would give you the shirt off his back to help a neighbor.

For this reason, and for the fact that they are so remote, there's no guarantee they will see any relief efforts in their area any time soon, I have decided to begin this GoFundMe account to help him and his community.

My heart bleeds for the people of Jamaica and especially for the people in the remote areas of devastation.
