Hello everyone! As many of you know, Lanie began her journey to become a physician assistant this past May at Nova Southeastern University. She has been given an incredible opportunity to participate in a mission trip to Guatemala through the foundation Hands of Esperanza. This foundation is dedicated to serving a remote village in the mountain ranges of Alta Verapaz, where access to healthcare is extremely limited.

During this mission trip, the team will provide care to about 500 villagers in just one week. The foundation’s vision goes beyond annual checkups—they are working to build a multi-specialty clinic so that patients can receive healthcare throughout the year. Lanie will work alongside medical professionals, offering essential and life-changing care to those in need. This experience will not only help change lives in Alta Verapaz, but will also strengthen Lanie’s skills as a future medical provider.

The trip takes place in August, and Nova Southeastern University has been sending students annually since 2014. Thank you for supporting Lanie’s journey to become a PA and for helping bring esperanza (hope) to this community. Your generosity will make a real difference in the lives of many!

Below is a short video about the work Hands of Esperanza is doing.
