Support Landen's Fight Against Seizures

My name is Margaret Porter, and I am a friend of the Martin family. I met Pam Martin when she started Landen in PreK at Ben Lippen School in 2011. Landen (c/o 2026) and his family - brother Mason (c/o 2027) and Pam - are a precious part of our community. Landen is a special guy! His heart is gentle, kind, and humble, and he is a fighter. Landon has been fighting from day one. From being born premature at 28 weeks and all the challenges that brings, to always having to put in the extra work to be where he needed to be. Landon has continuously shown an incredible amount of resilience. Landon is a true athlete and his ability to thrive in football, basketball, and track has brought a sense of joy as well as a place he could flourish and blossom as a gifted young man.

However, life has been turned upside down for him at the most inopportune time. Beginning in April of his 7th grade year Landen started experiencing seizures. These seizures progressively increased in quantity and duration, affecting all aspects of his life, including the classroom, the football field, the basketball court, and on the track. Needless to say, this has impacted his ability to be among friends as well as to be surrounded and guided by teachers and coaches who love him. These seizures and medication changes have taken their toll on Landen. After a hopeful start to 10th grade in the classroom, he soon returned home to try online classes. Pam is taking Landen to Duke Children’s Hospital in NC on May 30th for extensive testing. His time in the hospital will last anywhere from three to seven days. This should allow the medical staff to determine the next steps and what options Landen is a candidate for. Please pray that their time at Duke will bring clarity, peace, and healing and that the Lord will guide and provide for them.

Despite being a single mom raising two boys, Pam continues to be a beacon of light, always showing people how much she cares and continuously sacrificing so that her boys can be rooted in Christ. Pam is a true prayer warrior, and she, Landen, and Mason need our prayers and support. As things progress, I will keep this updated as we know more. Thank you for your love, prayers, and support!
