“Support Laly Arias in Her Fight Against Dementia”

Tina and I are setting up a GoFundMe to help raise money for our dear friend Laly and her husband, Ivan.

Our dear friend Laly Arias, at the age of 70, has been diagnosed with dementia, and her health has been rapidly declining—affecting both her speech and memory. In November, she traveled to Peru to see specialists, who confirmed her diagnosis. Now back in Alberta, she faces a seven-month wait to see a neuropsychologist, leaving her and her husband, Ivan, in a difficult situation.

Laly was once full of life—vibrant, loving, outspoken, and always the life of the party. She had a contagious laugh, a heart ready to help anyone in need, and a spirit that lifted those around her. Seeing her struggle now is heartbreaking.

How You Can Help

We are raising funds to provide Laly with private therapy sessions, including psychotherapy and speech therapy, to help slow her decline. Additionally, Ivan is in urgent need of domestic support, as Laly has forgotten how to cook and clean, leaving him as her full-time caregiver. With Ivan unable to work while waiting for assistance from Alberta Health Services, they are in desperate need of support.
