Help DJ LaLa Recover After a Life-Changing Accident
On January 23, 2025, everything changed for Lala Borda.
While driving through a green light in Summit County, Colorado, another vehicle ran a red and slammed into her in a violent T-bone collision. Lala lost consciousness on impact. She woke up in the ER with a fractured rib, a collapsed lung, and no memory of the crash. She spent four days in the hospital.
At first, it seemed like she might be okay. She was diagnosed with a concussion, but tests showed no brain injury. Two weeks later, determined to return to normal life, Lala tried to go back to work. But the headaches started—sharp, relentless, and paired with dizziness that left her unsteady on her feet.
Then came the MRI.
Doctors discovered a massive subdural hematoma—a large pool of blood trapped between her brain and skull. The pressure had grown so intense that her brain had shifted over a centimeter to the right. She was rushed to a Denver hospital, where a neurosurgeon told her what no one ever wants to hear: she needed emergency brain surgery.
A Life on the Line:
On March 19, Lala underwent a craniotomy—a complex and invasive procedure where surgeons removed a portion of her skull to access the brain. They carefully drained the hematoma and cleaned the affected area to prevent further damage. The surgery took hours. She came out of it exhausted, fragile, but alive.
But the trauma wasn’t over.
Just as she prepared to go home, Lala suffered a terrifying neurological episode. The entire right side of her body went numb. She lost the ability to speak—she could make sounds, but no words came out. Doctors explained that her brain, still inflamed and irritated from surgery, had temporarily lost key functions. She remained hospitalized for days under observation.
Finally, on March 26, she was discharged. She is now recovering at home—grateful to be alive, but far from healed.
Why She Needs Your Help
Lala is still dealing with fatigue, numbness in her right leg, and brain pressure that hasn't gone away. A follow-up scan showed that fluid remains, and there's a risk she’ll need another procedure. The chance of seizures is high, and she cannot safely return to work.
Since January, Lala has faced all of this without a paycheck. She’s drained her savings trying to cover medical bills, food, and travel to and from Denver. She’s done everything she can to stay afloat, but now—she needs us.
