Lakota's Recovery Fund
Donation protected
On January 1, 2020, Lakota was injured in a motorcycle accident in Peru where she has been living. She is currently in the ICU in a hospital in Peru and is recovering from inflammation and swelling in her brain. She has also contracted pneumonia which is causing a high fever. Lakota's mother Susan and her sister Marina have flown out to Peru to be with Lakota during this traumatic situation. The impromptu travel expenses to get her family close to her are just the beginning of the arduous financial burden that this will cause Lakota's family.
The doctors told her family that Lakota has no permanent brain damage, although Lakota is currently being sustained by a feeding and water tube and unable to communicate verbally. The hospital costs and medical bills continue to accumulate every day as Lakota is not covered by Peruvian health insurance and the breadth of her recovery remains unclear.
Lakota and her family are accepting financial support to help her and her family recover from this crisis. We appreciate any and all donations and encourage the community to help us spread the word to help our beloved Lakota heal.
