Da’Jon was a remarkable young person whose courage and kindness touched everyone around him. On July 25, 2026, Da’Jon tragically lost his life while visiting friends, leaving his mother Lakeita and their family devastated. Just months before, Da’Jon was honored with a Medal of Honor and a bravery plaque from a congresswoman and the governor for stepping in to protect a 12-year-old girl during Thunder over Louisville, an act in which he was physically hurt. He was only 15 years old and was looking forward to starting his sophomore year in high school this August—a future now heartbreakingly cut short.
Lakeita is facing the unimaginable pain of losing her child, and the family is now confronted with unexpected funeral expenses. The funds raised will go directly toward honoring Da’Jon’s memory and helping Lakeita through this incredibly difficult time. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help ease the financial burden and allow the family to focus on healing and remembering Da’Jon’s legacy of bravery and compassion.
Neva and the family are deeply grateful for any support during this time. This loss is an unexpected blow, and your kindness means so much. Please, anything you can give will help Lakeita and the family as they navigate this heartbreaking chapter.
