Support Lakecia's Recovery After Crash
Donation protected
I'm am saddened to inform you all, that Lakecia was struck while riding her EUC by a cyclist who ran the red light and badly injured her.
Yesterday around 2pm she was riding down park Avenue on her way to get Krispy Kreme donuts, in celebration of her and Chris's 19th wedding anniversary, when a cyclist ran the red and clipped her peddle. She was thrown from her wheel, smashed her hands and face on the ground and slid into a parked car.
Unable to move, a door man called EMS, and she was rushed to NY Presbyterian. She sustained a dislocated shoulder, fractured shoulder bone, bruised ribs and a fractured toe.
We are considering filing a complaint with the hospital as she was given the wrong dosage of pain relief, twice and sat screaming in pain until a different doctor stepped in. She had to be sedated and had her shoulder put back in place.
Today she is at home, resting as best as possible but with a heavy mind. Her insurance (32bj) does not cover any medical care received at NY Presbyterian and the prescription drugs along were over a hundred dollars.
We are asking from the bottom of our hearts for any donations to assist with medical bills and her recovery, which will be 6-8 weeks in a sling. We love you all and appreciate anything especially prayers and well wishes!
Her wheel was dinged up a bit but still functioning and was picked up by Alex (powertrip) to diagnose and store until she can ride again.
Please ride safe out there friends, once again her full face helmet saved her life, she may still loose her 2 front teeth, but she is alive and we are grateful! Until we meet again on the road
