Hi, my name is Courtney and I'm trying to raise money so I can take the sweetest cat in the world to Cornell.
I work in a vet hospital as an assitant and cross paths with many cats and dogs on the daily.
On January 22nd, we met Laine. Someone had found him in the middle of the road the night before and thought he was dead. Fortunately, he wasn't. Hearthside Cats offered to take him in and be evaluated the next morning. We're not quite sure what happened to him but we suspect he was either hit by a car or had some type of blunt trauma to his head. Either way, he was a hot mess when he came in. Significant trauma to his face / head / left eye...but somehow he purred throughout his exam. In the last few months, he's made great progress. The issue he's having now is that he can't fully close his mouth, which makes chewing / eating food quite a challenge.
Dr. Litteer (his vet) has been in contact with many specialists (dentists, neurologists, radiologists, etc) to try to figure out what what to do to help him. One of the specialists, a veterinary dentist at Cornell, is hopeful that this is a tooth issue - and the teeth are malaligned due to the way the skull fractures healed, making it impossible to fully close the mouth. In order to know if this is the case, we need to do a CT, which is expensive. They gave us an estimate of $3500 for the consult and CT. If that's the issue, the affected teeth would be removed and he'd finally be on the mend. Fingers crossed!
I am in love with this little guy and have been fostering him since he came in. If you are able, I would be forever grateful!
Thanks!
Courtney
