On January 17th, 2025, the Just the Pill board and leadership suddenly laid off most of the workers involved in patient care. This was a shock to the workers, who had been misled to believe there were still months of employment left and that lay offs were a last resort.

Everyone laid off was part of a team of experienced abortion workers. Among those laid off are single mothers, people with chronic illnesses, and all the trans gender and non-binary staff members. Our health insurance coverage is ending, and we are all suddenly seeking jobs in a small and competitive job market at the beginning of a fascist presidency that is targeting us.

We are looking to raise funds for the laid off union members, and hope to raise enough funds to distribute enough to supplement a month or more of rent and cover grocery bills while we search for work during this difficult time.
