Support laid off Run For Something Employees (Jan 2024)
Donation protected
On January 30th, Run for Something laid off 22% of employees, 50% of whom were Run for Something Union members belonging to Workers United. For some of our former colleagues, this has been a massive financial stressor as they struggle to make ends meet and pay rent. We’re trying to raise $25,000 to create an emergency hardship fund. We need your help.
The individuals who have been laid off were not at fault for their sudden job loss. We are grateful for their work to make Run for Something what it is today and for the amazing collaboration and commitment to electing young progressives on the ballot. Together we have helped elect 1,000 people to state and local office and have won races in nearly every state in America. Those affected by layoffs were hardworking and committed progressive staffers who found themselves on the receiving end of a decision that has turned their lives upside down.
It's a heartbreaking situation that can happen to anyone, and it reminds us of how essential it is to support one another. Your donation will help these impacted individuals extend their financial relief so they can focus on finding new employment opportunities.
Note from the Unit:
Given all of this, we are deepening our commitment to making Run for Something an empowering and equitable workplace that reflects progressive, pro-labor values. The Collective is continuing contract negotiations shortly, and we stand in solidarity with our fellow unions and labor movements who are fighting for worker's rights and to get to the negotiating table as well.
Whether or not you’re not able to contribute financially, please share this fundraiser with others. That’s also a huge help. Thank you for being a part of this compassionate initiative!
