Support Lahcen's Family After Tragic Fire

Donation protected

It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Lahcen Elmguielle, one of our By Landmark Memory Makers, who lost his life in a devastating house fire in Jersey City. Lahcen was not just a dedicated coworker—he was a brother, a friend, a husband, and so much more.

Lahcen started at The Liberty House as a Busser in May of 2009. He worked his way up from Busser, to Barback, and finally, Food Runner. For the past 16 years, Lahcen has been a part of the By Landmark family and we are devastated to hear of his passing.

Tragically, his wife and two young children are currently in critical condition, fighting for their lives. This beautiful family has lost everything—their home, their possessions, and most painfully, their father and husband. We are asking all of our Memory Makers to consider donating to our campaign for Lahcen and his family. 100% of the funds raised will be used to support the family and help with funeral costs.

In Loving Memory of Lahcen
"The loss of Lahcen has been devastating for the entire Liberty House and Landmark family, as well as for so many of our guests who came to know him over the years.

Lahcen was a cherished member of the Liberty House Restaurant team since 2009, beginning as a busser and later serving as a food runner. Over the past 16 years, he embodied the true spirit of hospitality—always upbeat, kind, and ready to lend a hand. He approached each day with positivity and compassion, and he made a lasting impact on everyone he met.

As we mourn his tragic passing, our hearts are also with his wife and two young daughters, who remain in critical condition. We honor Lahcen’s legacy and pray for healing—both physical and emotional—for his beloved family.

This GoFundMe has been created to help cover funeral and burial expenses for Lahcen, and to provide vital support for his wife and children as they face the unimaginable task of rebuilding their lives after this horrific fire. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference." - Jeanne Cretella, President - By Landmark

"Lahcen’s warm hello and bright smile will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace and Prayers to his Wife, and Children." - Danielle Villa, Director of Events - Liberty House Restaurant

“Lahcen was truly the definition of hospitality. He was kindhearted and always went out of his way for our guest. Lachen was truly a class act and was highly respected by our team. We deeply miss him.” - Tom Blume, General Manager - Liberty House Restaurant

“Whenever I saw Lahchen, no matter how busy he was, he always stopped to offer me a hand or see if he could help me in any way- His kindness and compassion is something we will miss everyday.” - Casey Townsend, Event Stylist - Liberty House Restaurant
