Support Lahaina's Restaurant Workers Affected by the Devastating Fires
Aloha, I'm Alexis, and I'm reaching out with a heart heavy but hopeful for my beloved Lahaina. Not too long ago, I called Lahaina home from 2014 to 2016, managing Betty's Beach Cafe within the iconic 505 building on Front Street. Those were more than just years; they were the chapters where I built an ohana with everyone in the restaurant industry of this magical town. Lahaina was more than a location; it was the heart of an amazing community where friends naturally became family.
The recent devastating fires didn't just take buildings; they shook the foundation of memories we created. But let me tell you about Lahaina – it's a town built on strength and unity. Through the years, I've seen how this community rallies together, how the spirit of aloha is not just a phrase, but a way of life. Even after I left for the mainland, the connections and friendships persisted, and my heart remained in Hawaii. And now, our Lahaina family faces an immense challenge. The very essence of their lives has been scorched, leaving them to start over with practically nothing. This fundraiser is my way of giving back, ensuring that funds go directly into the hands of service industry workers, the heart and soul of this town.
These resilient individuals have lost their homes, jobs, and belongings, and they need our support more than ever. The funds raised will provide emergency relief – shelter, clothing, and essential supplies – for service workers who have lost everything. They will aid in job assistance, helping workers find new employment opportunities amid their uncertain circumstances. A local Lahaina service industry worker will be overseeing the distribution, making sure every dollar goes where it's needed most. Your support, be it big or small, is a testament to the spirit of aloha that binds us. Together, we can restore not just buildings, but hope and the promise of a brighter tomorrow.
