What Is Lady Parts?
Based on the true story of writer and executive producer Bonnie Gross, Lady Parts is a bold, heartfelt dramedy about a young woman whose sex life becomes a family affair after she’s forced to undergo a vulvar vestibulectomy.
Just as Paige (played with hilariously deadpan charm by Valentina Tammaro) is about to break into her dream career, years of chronic vulvovaginal pain derail her plans. She moves back home, submits to awkward doctor visits and oversharing parents, and starts the painful (and comically cringe-worthy) process of healing.
Directed by Nancy Boyd, and inspired by the real-life struggles Gross and Boyd faced in receiving care for vaginal pain, Lady Parts is unflinching, funny, and refreshingly honest. It’s the kind of story women rarely see onscreen—because too often, we’re told not to talk about it.
