Support LaDonna's Healing Journey

Donation protected

Yá’át’ééh (hello) my name is LaDonna Rose. I’m Diné from the Navajo Nation and I currently live in Portland, Oregon.

This is not an easy post for me to write, but I’m in a place where I have no choice but to reach out and ask for help—from the bottom of my heart. I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and deep humility to ask for your support during another one of the most difficult times in my life.

I’m currently facing a serious medical issue that requires intense, daily treatment starting next week—Monday through Friday, for at least two months. It’s overwhelming and life-changing and although I’m choosing to keep the details private, please know that it is urgent and deeply serious. This is a private and deeply personal journey for me, and while I’m not ready to publicly share the details, I can say that the treatment is critical and will leave me physically & emotionally drained. ❤️‍

As I prepare for this, my home—my only safe space—was suddenly damaged by water, leaving it unfit for healing and recovery. The living conditions have become unsafe, especially as someone with compromised health. It’s now unsafe to stay in, especially while I go through treatment and try to recover. I’ve been told I can move into another unit, but only if I pay off a balance of $2,300.56—a cost I simply cannot cover on my own. If repairs take longer, I may also need to pay for a temporary hotel stay to have somewhere clean and safe to rest.

This has all come at once. I don’t have a job or stable income right now. I run a beadwork business that I have poured my heart into, but it’s not enough to cover this emergency. I’ve also recently lost both of my parents—and trying to walk through this without them here is breaking my heart. I miss my mom & dad. I miss their wisdom, their presence, their protection. I need them now more than ever. Navigating my life without their presence, their love & their guidance has been a grief I carry every day. They were my strength & I miss them deeply.

It’s not easy for me to ask for help—I’m a private person, and I try to stay strong and self-reliant. But this moment is bigger than me. I need community. I need care. I need help. I am someone who doesn’t ask for much. I keep things to myself. I try to figure it out on my own. But right now, I can’t. I am facing more than I can carry by myself.

So I’m asking—humbly and with hope—for your support.

My goal is to raise $2,900 to cover:

☆ The balance needed to move to a safe apartment unit

☆ Emergency hotel costs, if needed

☆ Food and nourishing meals for recovery

☆ Medicine, cleaning supplies, and basic necessities

☆ Funds to travel back home to the Navajo reservation in Arizona for traditional Native American Church ceremonies

If you can donate, even a few dollars, it would mean the world to me. And if you can’t give, please consider sharing this with your circles and community. Every bit of kindness helps more than you know.

This journey is hard, but I’m doing my best to stay grounded, to stay strong, and to hold onto hope. Thank you for reading, thank you for holding space and thank you for standing beside me during this time.

Ahé'héé (thank you)

With hope & gratitude,

~L.D.
