Support Ladies of Courage Arts Festival 2024

The second Ladies of Courage, a community building, free to the public, cultural arts festival will take place Sept. 28th, 2024 in the West Hollywood Park, 647 N. San Vicente Blvd. West Hollywood, California.

The success of the festival in 2023 has encouraged us to make the 2024 festival even better.

Join us and contribute to our joyful celebration to honor the contributions of women through the ages. In the telling of history, despite their large part in shaping the world, women and the men who championed them have often been overlooked. In this time when woman's rights are being eroded it is important to stand up for the equality of all.

This event will provide a showcase for a diversity of artists, every gender variation, ethnicity and race. Artists, musicians, poets, and dancers will show and perform their original works. Each performer will chose a courageous lady to honor for several minutes before their performance begins. In the evening the walls of buildings that face into the park will be lit up with projections and names of courageous women. Artists will be on the park lawn displaying their work and installations, dancers will be performing, as the music of wonderful live bands fills the park.

By honoring women of courage with a celebration of art we are reminded of the courage that lies within each one of us. It serves as a reminder that art is a powerful tool that can inspire courage, resilience, and hope. It is a testament to the fact that courage comes in many forms and can be found in the most unexpected places - even in a brush stroke, a dance move, a pixel, a music note, or a line of a poem.

Last year the city of West Hollywood gave us a grant of $5000 and we are applying for support again. Unfortunately like last year the $5000 will not nearly cover all of the expenses of an event such as this. Your funding supports: Security, projectors, insurance, sound systems, cables, laptops, stages, porta potties, generators, crews to set up and take down, banners, fliers, uhauls, tables, chairs, fire department, promotion, parking, websites, performers and organizers expenses. We want to make the festival the best it can be and hope to make this an annual event.

We are a team of artists, dancers, composers, musicians, producers and technical people all of whom are adding to the content of the project. All of our different skills and strengths contribute to the project.
