Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

My sweet cousin Lachlan has recently been diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of nervous system cancer that is originating from his right adrenal gland/kidney. The tumor is fairly large and unable to be removed surgically right now, so he will be starting chemotherapy this week in order to shrink it and make it safer and easier to remove in the future. The chemo he will be receiving is an 18-month treatment to start. He has proven to be an incredibly resilient toddler already. Before the age of one, Lachlan underwent open-heart surgery to repair Tetralogy of Fallot, a combination of four heart changes present at his birth.

Even with great insurance, there are many extra expenses associated with having a loved one with cancer (in addition to having other young children at home). Food, gas, childcare, hotel accommodations—it all quickly eats through every penny. Lachlan's parents, Derik and Kassie, do not like asking for help, but with 18 months of treatment ahead, they will both likely be taking unpaid leaves of absence from work to get him to treatments and take care of their other two children. Funds donated will all go toward their family expenses. No donation is too small, and every bit of support is greatly appreciated.
