Since 2005, La Voz de Austin has been a vital source of news for the Hispanic community, and today it stands as the only remaining print publication of its kind in the area. Alfredo recently turned 74 and is currently hospitalized in Cedar Park, Texas, battling Edema, which has made it nearly impossible for him to walk. This unexpected health crisis has left him unable to go out and sell advertisements, the main source of revenue for the newspaper.

With summertime approaching and advertising sales slowing down, La Voz de Austin faces the real possibility of having to pause publication. Without ads, the paper cannot be produced, and the community risks losing a trusted source of information and connection.
