Support Ky's Road to Recovery

Donation protected

Hey there, I am unfortunately writing this today to ask for support for one of my favorite people, Ky. Unfortunately, on October 3rd, they discovered a blood clot in their arm that would lead to a series of unfortunate complications which now lands them in the hospital recovering for an unknown period of time. Ky was diagnosed Thoracic Release Syndrome which is often seen in athletes who use repetitive motions such as body builders, painters, window washers, and fast pitch pitchers (which ky was an amazing pitcher throughout their younger years) Ky unfortunately needed surgery to correct this but during surgery there was complications. Due to these complications recovery will unfortunately be longer and more difficult. Ky will be in the hospital for an unknown amount of time. Due to this, we are hoping to raise funds to help cover their living expenses and relive some financial burdens so they can focus on healing. With permission from Ky and family, we are asking our community and our customers for support.

TIMELINE:
Thursday, October 3rd: Ky wakes up with swollen purple arm. They head to the urgent care thinking it was an allergic reaction. Was then sent to Blodget ER for CT and ultrasound. They discovered a blood clot and were sent to Butterworth for Vascular Care.

Sunday: Thrombectomy preformed to remove the clot.

Monday: Arm was still swollen, so additional surgery was needed. A Thoracic Outlet Surgery was performed late Monday night where a rib and a piece of muscle was removed to allow vein to work properly. However, during surgery, their lung got nicked causing a pneumothorax. A chest tube needed to be placed to drain air and blood around their lungs.

Tuesday: They woke up extremely uncomfortable and nauseous. They haven’t been able to eat hardly anything leading up to the surgeries and now they are dealing with nausea afterward. Chest tube is very uncomfortable and hard to breathe. They just are completely miserable.

Wednesday: Very rough day, unfortunately a hematoma developed and there is more blood in their chest. Recovery time is unknown but will be a long journey. There was a possible second surgery scheduled, but fortunately was cancelled with X-rays showing improvement!

If you donate (with permission from ky) we will also send you a Ky Recovery sticker please reach out to us to request a sticker! If you can’t donate please feel free to share ❤️ we love our Ky and we can’t wait to see them healthy and happy again.
