Support Kyrie Elijah Robinson

Hello!

My name is Jessi and I am helping raise money to support my sister Taylor, brother in law TC, and their newborn son Kyrie. Please consider helping them focus on the health and well being of Taylor and Kyrie by removing money as an obstacle and concern. All proceeds will go towards medical bills for extended hospital stays, parking passes to the hospital for reoccurring visits, meals, gas, baby supplies, and bills. Taylor’s time recovering and focusing on the health of her baby is unpaid time away, and the unexpected timeline of her delivery did not allow for them to be as financially prepared for the extended time away.

Please read more about their story below:

Taylor learned a few weeks ago at her anatomy screening that her baby was very small. After more visits with the doctor, they were diagnosed with RFS(Restricted Fetus Syndrome). In and of itself, RFS is not necessarily life threatening, however with the visits they also learned that Taylor’s blood pressure was dangerously inconsistent. To ensure her and babies health, she had to return to the doctors office many times over the course of those few weeks.

At a follow up ultrasound on Monday, March 13th, they learned that Kyrie was not growing well, and discovered that the flow of blood and nutrients from the placenta to baby were inconsistent and not adequate to help him fully develop. In addition to this news, Taylor’s blood pressure was high and labs revealed she had protein in her urine, indicating Kidney problems, and elevated liver enzymes, indicating liver complications. At this point they needed to admit Taylor to the hospital for further evaluation and constant monitoring, officially being diagnosed with Pre-Eclampsia.

On Wednesday, her condition had improved slightly, and enough were they felt comfortable discharging her. There was an expectation to see her every M/W/F, knowing there was a high likelihood she would need to deliver in the upcoming weeks.

Thursday, March 16th, Taylor woke up with extremely high blood pressure and liver pain. After arriving at the hospital, labs revealed her liver enzymes had tripled and her blood pressure was dangerously high— baby needed to come out now! It all happened so fast. An hour later, Taylor had a c-section and we welcomed 1lb 2oz baby Kyrie to the world! They immediately and successfully resuscitated Kyrie and he miraculously was able to breathe on his own. He was quickly rushed away by the NICU team as Tay was being stitched up.

While Kyrie is capable of breathing on his own, doctors put him on a special ventilator because they want to ensure that his energy is spent on growing and not working so hard to breathe. He has already been administered multiple medications, received a blood transfusion, and underwent a procedure to replace his breathing tube. He will need to stay in the NICU for an undetermined amount of time while he hits milestones that are usually met in utero. Taylor and TC can visit him anytime they want, day or night, but it will be at least a few weeks before they will be able to hold their sweet boy in their arms. There will be many trips back and forth to the hospital in the upcoming months.

As for Taylor, she remains in the care of the hospital through the weekend as they monitor her Pre-Eclampsia and liver function and recovers from surgery. Recovery has not been easy, but she is improving and expected to be released in the next day or so.

I am beyond grateful that my sister and nephew are stable and in the incredible hands of a world class medical team, and they are surrounded by so much love and support from friends and family.

Prayers, well wishes, and success stories are invaluable as they will need constant reminders to keep faith and have hope. Every little bit counts, so if you are able, please consider donating to help ease their journey as they fight this uphill battle with their newborn son.

Thank you to everyone who has already found ways of showering them with love, gifts and resources— they are overwhelmed by the love and generosity of friends and family.
