Hi, my name is Kashiya Rice, and I’m raising funds for my 6-year-old daughter, Kyra.

Kyra has already endured more loss and pain in her short life than most people face in a lifetime. When she was just 9 months old, her father passed away. Since then, it has been just the two of us, navigating life, healing, and holding onto hope together.

Anyone who knows Kyra knows how special she is. Five words that describe her perfectly are intelligent, obedient, courageous, loving, and amazing. She is gentle, thoughtful, and far wiser than her years — even in moments when she is hurting, she shows strength and grace that leave everyone around her in awe.

In 2025, our world was turned upside down when Kyra was diagnosed with low-grade brain cancer. While the word “low-grade” may sound less frightening, the reality has been anything but easy. She underwent brain surgery in September 2025, and in December 2025, she began chemotherapy. Since then, Kyra has been in constant pain and now relies on a nasogastric (NG) feeding tube, as eating has become difficult and exhausting for her.

Watching your child suffer — especially after already losing so much — is a pain no parent can put into words. Despite everything, Kyra continues to fight with incredible bravery. She still smiles, still loves deeply, and still deserves comfort, joy, and the chance to simply be a child.

The medical journey has been relentless: hospital stays, specialist appointments, treatments, medications, and ongoing monitoring that may continue for years. While my focus has been on staying by her side through every hospital stay and treatment, the financial strain has become overwhelming. At the beginning of January, while Kyra was hospitalized, I lost my job. Since then, I’ve been struggling to keep up with medical bills, travel to appointments, basic living expenses, and the many unexpected costs that come with caring for a critically ill child — all while being her sole parent and caregiver.

I’m asking for help so that I can focus on what matters most: caring for Kyra, supporting her through treatment, and giving her the stability and love she needs during this fight.
