My granddaughter, Kyrah was just hospitalized and diagnosed with Henoch-Schönlein Purpera, an autoimmune disorder where her immune system mistakenly attacks healthy small blood vessels, causing inflammation and leakage... leaking blood on her organs and under her skin. There has been good days and bad days. Some days she can walk, some days she needs a walker, and some days she needs a wheel chair. Every day is different. It's pretty painful for her.
There is going to be about 6 months or more of monitoring her immune system and kidneys because the threat of organ damage. We are hoping that it will go dormant but given her genetic disposition with her mom having lupus, we are nervous about what the future holds for Kyrah.
Unfortunately, she does not have insurance at this time because of not being able to qualify for state assistance. She needs to have follow-up appointments with a specialist every couple of weeks. The family is looking into other options for Health insurance as well but it is all out of pocket.
Anything donated will go to Kyrah's medical cost for follow up care and anything else stricktly related to Kyrah's care and needs for the next 6 months or longer depending on her immune system needs.
Please pray for her, we love her so very much.
We are grateful for everything.
