To know Kylie is to love her.

She is smart, hardworking, kind, adventurous, and she has a hilarious personality that leaves a lasting impression on everyone she meets. Kylie adores spending time with her family and friends, loves being outdoors—especially when she’s fishing—and she’s an enormous Spider-Man fan. She also loves her two little furbabies, Lily and Layla, with her whole heart. Kylie is the kind of person who brings light, laughter, and warmth everywhere she goes.

But everything changed in a matter of days.

On November 17th, Kylie was rushed to the hospital with excruciating leg pain. After nearly a week of ER visits and orthopedic appointments that brought no answers, her pain became unbearable. She developed severe leg and arm pain, chest tightness, a stiff neck, and a high fever. She was rushed back to the hospital in absolute agony. After a whirlwind of tests, she received the diagnosis no family ever expects to hear: AML Leukemia.

The news has completely shaken her family. Kylie has since been transferred from Delaware to the University of Pennsylvania—an hour and a half from home—to receive the specialized care she needs. Her mom, Kim Thomas, hasn’t left her side, and neither has her girlfriend, Allison, who has been truly incredible through every moment of this nightmare. Allison has stayed in the hospital with Kylie and Kim since the very beginning, offering comfort, strength, and unwavering support. Her presence has meant the world to Kylie and their entire family. Meanwhile, her Dad- Phil, has been splitting his time between the hospital and managing everything at home.

This family has already endured more hardship than anyone should have to. In just the past couple of months, Phil unexpectedly lost his job, their beloved family dog and cat both passed away, and they had to replace their home’s heating and air-conditioning system—a major, unavoidable expense. And now, on top of everything, they are navigating the heartbreak and uncertainty of their daughter’s cancer diagnosis.

Kim is a close friend of mine, and watching her struggle through something so devastating has been heartbreaking. This family is always the first to help others, yet they would never ask for help themselves. That’s why this fundraiser was created—because right now, they truly need support.

Along with the emotional toll, the financial strain is overwhelming. Kim cannot work while staying with Kylie in the hospital, and with Phil recently laid off, the loss of income has made an already impossible situation even harder. Gas, food, medical costs, travel, and everyday expenses are piling up quickly. Every donation—no matter the size—will make a meaningful difference and allow them to focus entirely on Kylie’s care and recovery.
