Help Cohen Heal
We never imagined we would be here, asking for help. Asking for anything has never been easy for us, but right now, we are putting our pride aside for our 6-year-old son, Cohen.
This past weekend, our sweet boy fell into a fire pit, and in just a few seconds, our entire world changed. Cohen suffered deep tissue partial-thickness burns to his leg and buttocks, along with additional burns to his back and hands.
Watching your child hurt is something no parent is ever prepared for. As his mama and daddy, our hearts are broken seeing him go through the pain and treatments that lie ahead.
Cohen is currently receiving outpatient treatment, which means we are making the 45-minute drive each way to his appointments so he can receive the wound care and medical attention he needs. We know this is only the beginning of what could be a long road to healing.
Right now, our lives revolve around Cohen—his appointments, his pain, his healing, and making sure he feels safe and loved through all of this. And while we wouldn’t have it any other way, there is a difficult reality that comes with it.
We are a two-income household, and we simply cannot survive on one income. One of us needs to be available to take Cohen to appointments, care for him at home, and be there for him physically and emotionally while he heals.
At the same time, the medical expenses, supplies, medications, gas for the 45-minute trips back and forth, and our normal household bills continue to add up. We hate asking for help. We are used to working hard and taking care of our own. But right now, Cohen needs us more than ever, and we don’t want financial stress to take away from our ability to be completely present for him.
Any donation, no matter how big or small, will help us cover the unexpected costs of Cohen’s recovery and allow us to focus on what matters most: helping our little boy heal.
