Hey Everyone,
I’m heartbroken to share that my sister, Kylie, has been diagnosed with aplastic anemia—a rare and life threatening blood condition where the body stops producing enough new blood cells due to bone marrow damage. With such a critical diagnosis, the financial burden is immense.
Aplastic anemia (AA) is a rare life-threatening disease. The incidence and median age at diagnosis, which varies according to geography, ranges from 1.5 to about 7 cases per million per year. With such a challenging diagnosis, the financial implications are significant.
As a single mum, Kylie has been managing everything on her own while caring for her 16-year-old son, Solomon, on an island in Brisbane Waters. She now urgently needs to relocate to Brisbane for treatment, as immediate medical intervention may be required at any time.
Kylie requires specialised accommodation, as well as a full-time carer. Whilst we are doing our best to support her, the geographical distance adds to the challenge. Given she is unable to work, the financial strain of covering medical costs, rent, accommodation, and everyday bills has created significant pressure on her.
A dedicated teacher and active member of her local church, Kylie has always given so much to her community. Now, she needs our help. A GoFundMe has been set up to support her during this difficult time. Any contribution, big or small, would make a meaningful difference. If donating isn’t possible, sharing her story within your networks would be just as valuable.
Kylie is deeply grateful for the love and support she has received. Together, we can show her she’s not alone in this fight. Thank you for being part of this effort.
