Support Kyle's Fight In Recovery From Bacterial Meningitis
Donation protected
For those of you that have never met me, I am Kyle’s brother-in-law, Jake. In an effort to make life easier for Kyle, Michelle and Olivia, I wanted to show the Hicks family how much we care about them.
Kyle has been in critical condition in the ICU for four days with bacterial meningitis. On April 10th, Kyle came home from work experiencing sinus issues and developed a high fever. He was taken to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital on Sunday where his symptoms began to worsen hour by hour. He was intubated and put into a medically induced coma. The doctors performed a spinal tap and determined that he had bacterial meningitis. When Kyle was involved in a bull riding accident in 2005, his spleen was removed. Your spleen helps to make white blood cells that protect you from infection. This makes him even more susceptible without having a spleen. The doctors said bacterial meningitis is a rare case. Kyle has experienced brain swelling. The doctors perfomed a procedure to drain the excess brain fluid which is helping to reduce some of the pressure and swelling. His prognosis is undetermined but we are hopeful. Kyle is a fighter-that is for sure! Michelle and all his loved ones have been at his side. He has a good medical team caring for him.
Kyle and Michelle share a beautiful love story. They have been together for 22 years this year. They met while attending Armada High school and began dating. Kyle and Michelle married in 2015 and will be celebrating their 10 year anniversary this year. They welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Olivia Rose Hicks, on July 7th, 2023. Olivia has been the highlight of Kyle’s life. She is going to be two years old in July. He has always wanted to be a dad. He tells Michelle often that this is the “good life.” Kyle is 41 years old. He has been working at Dan’s excavating for years. He truly enjoys being an operator and takes pride in his skills.
Each day we are praying for a miracle. Our family has a strong faith in God and we are praying for our beloved Kyle to pull through this. It could be a long recovery ahead. During this difficult time, we ask for your prayers and support to help our family. As Saint Francis of Assisi said, “While we have time, let us do good.” The Hicks Family will appreciate whatever you can offer whether that be prayers or a donation. We thank you so much for your support.
I will be receiving bracelets soon to show our support for Kyle as well. If you are interested in making a donation to receive one, please reach out. They will also be available in his hospital room once the Hicks Family will be allowing visitors.
